That pretty much sums up how I feel about this.

Don't get me wrong. Love Abigail Breslin, and almost wish I could have a nerdy chubby little girl just like her. And that was a great movie. But HELL TO THE NAW IT AINT A BEST PICTURE CANDIDATE!!!! Even more egregious? No nomination for Bill Condon. I'm in a bad f-ing mood today, so don't any of you try and F**K with me.

Bill Condon? Come on. Does the man who directed Candyman 2 really deserve an award for anything? I want back the 2-plus hours I spent watching Dreamgirls. It's like all of the bad stuff he wanted to write for Chicago got dumped into this film. And what was with Jamie Foxx at the end as he watched the final performance? What emotion was he feigning? He looked like he was trying to stifle a fart. How does a director make such a monumentally talented actor suck like that? I agree with your other comments, though.

I forgive you for wishing I were dead. In spite of all that, I still think you are witty and mildly fabulous and make insightful points. But Dreamgirls still sucks like the turbine intake of a B-52 piloted by Jenna Jameson.
If Condon were up for best director, he would be up against Eastwood, whose jock he is not fit to carry, and Scorsese, who will win for his solid-but-not-wonderful film because he's been hosed too many times not to.

I still have my fingers in my ears (la la la I can't hear you) about Dreamgirls, but YOU DIDN'T LIKE "THE DEPARTED!?" Are you loco!? That movie was one of the best non-Dreamgirls movies I've seen in the last few years. Pure entertainment. Go back on your meds Walter Matthau!

OK, OK, I got carried away about The Departed. I guess I'm just grinding an axe because Scorsese never won for his earlier classics. Even Alec Baldwin was great in Departed. Once I got over imagining Matt Damon saying his own name like a Mantra (See "Team America: World Police") it was good. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Glad you've seen the light. However, I still wish you were dead.

And yet, like Lazarus, I rise again.
The thing about The Departed, if you must know, is that I have an anti-Nicholson bias. He doesn't act. He just does his Jack schtick. The fact that he won a best actor Oscar in the same year that Robert Duvall was in The Apostle and Peter Fonda was in Yulee's Gold was a travesty. Jack phoned it in for As Good As It Gets and somehow won. That's my only real irk with The Departed.
I'm off to die now. Have that on your conscience.
